Contour Pad (CP)

Foundation shell for adaptable, improved saddle fit — compatible with most makes and models of equestrian saddles.

What it is

The Contour Pad is a shaped foundation shell, designed to work with your chosen insert to create adaptable, precision saddle fit. On its own, the shell is almost neutral in thickness, allowing maximum room within the pad for adjustment. Its profile follows the contours of the horse’s back for stability and even contact, while the wither cut-out relieves vertical and lateral pressure, protecting sensitive structures and maintaining clearance through every stride.

Shell Options — One Purpose

  • Mesh-on-Mesh: maximises airflow, improves saddle stability, and ensures inserts perform at their best.
  • Leather Top on Mesh: combines breathability with leather grip, reducing saddle slip and maintaining wither clearance — even on narrow or high-withered horses.

Insert Options — Standard

The CP must be paired with an insert to function: some are included, others available separately. Standard inserts are self-serve and can be selected by the end user with or without the guidance of a Saddle Fitter.
  • Lift Insert: supports wither and spinal clearance.
  • Balance Insert: raises the back of the saddle to adjust pitch according to rider style and the horse’s needs.
  • Comfort/Stability Insert: dampens impact for horse and rider; can also stabilise the saddle laterally.
All foams are medical grade, similar to those used in human orthotic systems.

Benefits (insert dependent)

  • Distributes pressure evenly across the back.
  • Dampens impact for both horse and rider.
  • Maintains spinal clearance and protects sensitive areas.
  • Allows one saddle to serve multiple horses, reducing cost and storage needs.
  • Compatible with most makes and models of equestrian saddles.
  • Practical for multi-horse settings — keep several CP shells ready for different combinations.
